YouTube logged 147 million US visitors who watched on average over 5 hours of video per month. YouTube also reported that they currently have over 3 billion view per day! Online video ads reach over 45% of the US population.

It’s interesting to see Facebook 4th (behind YouTube, Vevo and Yahoo) and Viacom 5th. Overall, the online video space is still growing rapidly both in terms of users and level of engagement.

It will be interesting to see how YouTube’s planned redesign and $100 million in grants to content developers will affect both traffic and engagement on the YouTube. Google’s goal is to increase engagement and time spent metrics, creating both a more engaged and larger audience and of course trying to appeal to advertiser who spend on TV, boosting ad spends and CPMs on YouTube.
